AEJMC

AEJMC is a nonprofit, educational association for communication education and research. The Association’s mission is to advance education, foster scholarly research and promote the free flow of communication.

Public Relations and Marketing Manager, AEJMC

  • Develops and manages national marketing campaigns in conjunction with strategic directions, annual conventions and Association outreach. Steers small, cross-Association teams in building and promoting Association outreach and implementation of strategic objectives.
  • Facilitates new and alternative ways to leverage traditional programs using social media channels in support of scholarly research, teaching and professional services. Oversees creative and IT process involved with launching new programs, and works closely with internal clients, IT and outside vendors.
  • Monitors online public relations and provides 24/7 communication support to members (4,000), students and working journalists on a regular and ongoing basis. Arranges interviews, designs and produces correspondence materials, pairs mentors and reviews and edits Association reports and policies as required.
  • Strategizes and educates management team and others across the company on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the association’s products and services. Manages social media outlets, including the Association’s blog, Facebook, Twitter and additional engagement forums, et al.
  • Provides communication advice and liaison to Executive Director, executive board (13) and office staff of seven.

Social Media Club

Social Media Club Columbia is a volunteer-driven group organized to expand social media literacy, share lessons learned, and promote ethical practices through discussion and actions. The Club holds monthly meetings on a myriad of social media topics as well as by-request workshops for businesses and organizations.

  • Steers small, six-person committee that provides strategic direction and oversight for the growth and evolution of Social Media Club Columbia. Responsible for maintaining liaison with the national SMC parent organization and keeping the Club informed of current initiatives.
  • Creates and delivers social media workshops at businesses and organizations within the community. Works with the President and the Programming Director to determine potential topics, speakers and venues.
  • Manages the overall welcoming process for new members. Responds to e-mail delivered to the smccolumbia@gmail.com account and other online/offline requests.
  • Manages online marketing and promotions. Manages social media outlets, including Facebook and Twitter. Ensures that SMC Columbia events happen monthly, and fills in where needed.
